‘To anyone who hasn’t tried Scouting before, I’d say come on up and have a go! I think that most people don’t really know that Scouting is about activities, friendship and meeting people from other countries. I’ve been in the Movement since I was a Beaver and I still love it!’

Explorers is available to 14 – 18 year olds giving them more adventurous activities and challenges, with opportunities to gain the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Chief Scout PlatinumChief Scout Diamond Award,  Explorer Belt and the prestigious Queen Scout Award.

“Flexible” is what best describes this section.

Units are a provision provided by the District but a lot of our units maintain good link and relationships with various Scout Troops. A unit can be based around various activities i.e. climbing/cycling etc

This enables members, to be part of several units, depending on their particular interest. More so, they are able to fit scouting, around sitting those all-important exams!

We have a Parent’s Guide to Explorers which gives  a brief introduction to the section, outlines the types of activities young people take part in and the skills young people will gain. This guide can be obtained from our District Scout Shop.
